Why might I want to take the new SQE rather than the old route?
- Law schools, law firms and employers will be focused on the SQE qualification and there will be more innovation and investment in the SQE.
- It may become increasingly difficult to gain a place on an affordable and convenient LPC as the demand declines. Some smaller LPC providers may close and/or switch to the SQE as their student numbers decrease.
- The SQE gives greater flexibility allowing graduates to spread the exams and the cost of qualifying over a longer period of time.
- You can earn whilst you learn (unlike the full-time GDL/LPC although there are many part-time programmes on the market).
The SQE route to qualification may be more affordable.
